Welcome to the new official website for Alf-Alfa, the band and caller for barn dances and ceilidhs,

For the last eighteen years, Alf Alfa and the Wild Oats have been one of the most popular and best known bands in the country, playing for ceilidhs, barn dances and folk festivals throughout the Midlands, Northern England and Wales.

At the end of 2007, three of the original band members left for various reasons.  The remaining four decided to continue providing high quality entertainment, relaunching under the name of Alf-Alfa. 

In mid-2008, a further band member, Phil Pimentil took a temporary sabbatical from the band, but we hope to welcome him back soon.  At the same time, Terry and Lynda Fox joined the band.  (Terry and Lynda previously worked with Jason and Trevor in Oatcake Billy's Ideal Band.)

The current band members are:

• Trevor Carter: English concertina, harmonicas, piano, keyboards
• Lynda Fox: percussion (tambourine, bodhran, cymbals, bass drum)
• Terry Fox: fiddle, mandolin, tin whistle
• Jason Hill: guitar, banjo, ukulele, autoharp
• Linda Westrupp: caller

The band's repertoire is still firmly based in the English ceilidh tradition, but also includes music from Scotland, Ireland and America, as well as original compositions.  We have also been influenced by Western Swing, the jazz-tinged dance music of Texas, and some of our arrangements have a distinctive swing feel.
